Stock Transfers Between Warehouses
A Stock Transfer moves inventory from one warehouse to another. The stock is tracked as In Transit until it is received at the destination.
Transfer Workflow

1. Create the Transfer
Go to Inventory โ Stock Transfers โ New.
- Select Source Warehouse (where stock is coming from)
- Select Destination Warehouse (where stock is going)
- Add lines: product, quantity, and optional bin
Save as Draft to continue editing.
2. Initiate (Dispatch)
Click Initiate Transfer. The system:
- Deducts the quantity from the source warehouse
- Marks the transfer as In Transit
The stock is no longer in either warehouse at this point โ it is in transit.
3. Receive at Destination
When the goods arrive, open the transfer and click Receive. The system:
- Adds the quantity to the destination warehouse
- Marks the transfer as Received
Stock Ledger Entries
Two stock movements are created:
- TRANSFER_OUT at the source warehouse (negative)
- TRANSFER_IN at the destination warehouse (positive)
No accounting journal entry is created โ the asset value stays on the same account, just at a different location.
